How’s it going in 2025?
Published: 02-May-2025
Hello, again. What a long break that was? As you would have seen from the home page of this site, I’ve not been writing updates for quite a while now. You can probably understand the reasons why, but I want to get into the habit of doing it more frequently.
So, quick update from the last few years:
- My wife Joy passed away in June 2021. It still sucks and I miss her terribly. Life can be hard at times, though I manage to muddle through.
- Still work for iSite, and we’re still remote. There was a brief time where we tried an office (only myself and another developer used it, though he had already handed his notice in to move to another company). They quickly withdrew the office after that. Even though we all live in the same city, we only meet up once or twice a year.
- I’m still wanting to build my own products. I’ve tried using codebases based on LAMP (PHP mainly) and ASP.NET Core. I think for the web, I’ll use PHP though I may look to do more desktop apps. I’ll explain why in a future blog post.
- As a result of being widowed I am trying to live life more fully and experience things. For our 25th wedding anniversary, I went to New York for 10 days in July 2024. It was absolutely fabulous. I’d love to go again, though will wait until things have calmed down more politically (so that’ll be 2030 at least).
As I said, I will try and update from frequently both here and on social media (notably twitter (I refuse to call it X), instagram). I would like to be in a better position by this time next year. Small steps, let’s go…
